Is Facebook.com a con? see below?

I signed up and gave my e mail address and next thing I knew all the private contacts on my e mail were up on the Facbook screen and it has all been checked by Facebook to see who was and who was not signed up already. I was vexed and disgusted that they can take confidential material out of my e mail address and scrutinise it like that. I changed passwords and removed all contacts and I deactivated the Facebook account promptly. What do you think?

Is Facebook.com a con? see below?
That sounds very nasty. Very big brother!

Reply:I have facebook, and i love it, its not a scam at all.

They just have a program that checks who you already know on th site, its no big deal. Anyway, your password is forgotten right after no worries.

I never viewed it as a scam, but more as a help to find your buddies.

Dont worry about it, you didnt have to change all your information just for that;)
Reply:whatcha got to hide? works fine for millions of other people
Reply:You agreed to their terms and conditions when you registered. You don't agree with their policies. So be it.
Reply:idiot, when you sign up it asks you if you want your info out, read the disclaimer, and if it is a con then millions of college students are screwed
Reply:i think you musn't have read everything before you filled out your details cos that never happened to me. but i do think facebook is crap.
